First look at Lord & Taylor and Hudson's Bay's private label 424 Fifth

OJ&B attended the launch party for Lord & Taylor and Hudson's Bay's new private label 424 Fifth on Wedesday, October 16th at the Glasshouses in Chelsea.  The elevated ready-to-wear collection, comprised of women's apparel and accessories, has a distinct fashion point-of-view.  The collection will be available in stores at Lord & Taylor and Hudson’s Bay, as well as on both lordandtaylor.com and thebay.com beginning January 2014.

I was thrilled to be able to be one of the first people to view the collection of this new private label.  Take a look a some of the pieces that I was able to snap while I was there!

“The 424 Fifth collection offers a full lifestyle collection for the modern woman," said Mary Turner, Executive Vice President of Specialty for Hudson's Bay Company, the parent of Lord & Taylor. “The collection fills what we believe to be a void in the marketplace for stylish, wearable, well-priced fashion. We feel strongly that our core customer is underserved in this market and, as such, we are committed to building 424 Fifth as a compelling women's brand to satisfy this need."

Named for Lord & Taylor’s iconic Manhattan address, 424 Fifth has been inspired by the retailer’s rich American sportswear heritage. The collection includes dresses, skirts, tops, blouses, sweaters, pants, outerwear and accessories. The pieces are fabric-driven, focusing on beautiful yet durable textiles to best complement the garment and the body. The collection features luxurious looks, while maintaining a sense of both versatility and wearability, at affordable price points. 424 Fifth has been designed to appeal to women of all ages who are inspired by of-the- moment, yet timeless American style. The ideal customer exudes innate, effortless glamour while choosing to invest in quality pieces that are well priced.

“We are very excited to launch the 424 Fifth brand at Lord & Taylor and Hudson’s Bay,” said Marie Holman-Rao, Chief Creative Officer of Hudson’s Bay Company. “The collection offers a fresh, modern take on the way women dress today. We are confident that our customer will find her everyday essentials and also discover some favorite statement pieces along the way.”

I loved so many pieces in this collection.  From the beach scene printed on the pencil skirt and trench to the amazing accessories and shoes, this collection offers pieces that you can wear in so many ways!  My favorite example of this is the full skirt that is a very hot trend for Spring 2014.  It was shown with various tops, jackets and sweaters and every way looked like perfection.  Members of the 424 Fifth design team were even wearing the full skirts in various colors paired with white tees.  The look was casual yet chic and fashionable and it is perfect for weekend brunch or running around the city shopping and running errands. It seemed to be the piece that tied the collection together in my opinion.

Check out what some of the 424 Fifth pieces look on models and keep your eyes peeled in January 2014 for the collection!

This look is so cool, sophisticated and chic.  You could wear the pieces as seen in the photo or you can wear them separately and create a ton of looks. There are so many great staples for your wardrobe.  I would totally rock that black and white clutch as a man clutch to the right event.

I have always loved a good button up shirt paired with a skirt like the one in the photo.  How cute would it be with a blazer over the shoulders like a cape?  I can definitely see Charlotte from Sex and the City zipping round NYC in the Spring owning this look!

This is the fab full skirt that I spoke up earlier in the post.  It comes in an array of colors and it is a must have in your wardrobe for Spring 2014.  This is the kind of piece that is perfect for a garden party and can bring the fun and flirty side out in you. Don't be the gal that says "I should have listened to Jonathan."  It has happened before and I don't want it to happen to you!

Congrats to Lord and Taylor and Hudson's Bay on the launch of 424 Fifth.  It is a great collection and I am exited to see women wearing it on the streets of NYC and beyond!

I leave you with this kiss that I captured at the party:

I love a good red lip!
