The most magical night in Hollywood has to be Oscar's night!  Tinseltown's brightest stars come out to play which means you have to dress to kill and shut it down!  Oscar night is also go time for the people who work in the fashion industry.  If your creation is seen on the most famous red carpet in the world, your career can blow up almost over night!

This is literally the Superbowl of fashion so you know OJ&B has to weigh in on who worked their dress and who looked a mess!  Below I have 5 women who worked their dress and 5 women who looked a mess.  Find out where your favorite actress landed!
These gals worked their dress:

Gwyneth Paltrow gets my vote as best dressed actress at the Oscars.  She proves that she is Hollywood royalty by looking effortlessly chic in this Tom Ford dress and matching cape (that cape is EVERYTHING).  I feel like only Gwyneth can pull off wearing a full length cape to the Oscars while killing it at the same time!

Octavia Spencer came to win on the carpet and in her category of Actress In a Supporting Role in her Tadashi Shoji gown.  She has stayed loyal to Shoji and we can see why!  The dress directs the eye to the middle of her body making her curvy frame look sleeker.  She is making the dress and her curves work for her and she looked smashing.  Props to her stylist!

Jessica Chastain made a bold and smart choice with this McQueen gown!  As a newer Oscar attendee (she made her debut in 2010), she needed a wow factor that would have everyone talking about her. She is did an amazing job wearing this dress.  People will expect her to keep up the good work for Oscars to come and that is a great thing!

Glenn Close in Zac Posen showed the young gals in Hollywood a thing or two about shutting down a red carpet!  She is 64 and looks stunning!  This shows you that you can look fierce at any age as she is showing off her amazing body while still being age appropriate.  I put her in my top 5 best dressed because she kept her look modern with the matching midnight green blazer.  It was very Carrie Bradshaw of her and I loved it!

Emma Stone worked it out again with this red Giambattista Valli.  People were saying that it looked like an old Nicole Kidman dress but for me it was all about that moment of Emma walking onto the red carpet and looked gorgeous.  I love that she has turned into a fashion maven and I think that she twerked it for her Oscar debut!

These gals looked a mess:

I love Melissa McCarthy but I did not love her in this Marina Rinaldi gown.  All of the bunched fabric made her look bigger than she is and it also looked like a curtain situation.  I feel that she needed something more tailored and curve friendly a la Octavia Spencer.  I did however love her story about her high school BFF Brian Atwood making her custom shoes that had a special message to her on the bottom!  It must be awesome to rise to success with your bestie!

Penelope Cruz has hit it out of the red carpet park many times but the ball fell a little short this time with this Giorgio Armani.  Her hair and make up look amazing but I felt like this gown was a little bit to old for her.  Penelope is a very sexy woman and I felt like this is something that she is years away from wearing.  I love the color but I think the gown aged her.  Better luck next time PC!

Angelina Jolie in Atelier Versace looked sexy but for me this was not a dress for the Oscars.  I think if she would have worn this to the Globes and worn her Globes dress to the Oscars it would have been a way better impact!  She looks very black tie Barbie to me with the slit, the hair and the bright red lip.

Michelle Williams in Louis Vuitton is another example of a great dress yet wrong occasion.  Again, I think I would have loved this for the Globes but not for the Oscars when you are a nominee.  I don't know, maybe it is her hair.  I still want her to grow it out because she looks gorge with long hair.  I really wanted to like this dress and I even tried but I did not want to live a lie!  Jenn from Dawson's Creek would want it that way!

Rooney Mara in Givenchy Couture was loved by many people in the Twittersphere but this dress was not doing anything for me.  She usually wears black so the white is a good change for her but the top just looked like took scissors to a slip and pinned them to the side.  The bottom of the dress is pretty but I don't think the top did much for her. She stated on the red carpet that she chose this gown last minute and it shows!

Be sure to tell OJ&B what you think in the comment section below!  Remember to be respectful as I have tried my best to not be rude to these women!  At the end of the day they are all stunning!
