Recently, I had the opportunity to visit artist, David Foox, at his studio space at One State Street in New York City. I love seeing where people work, especially when they are artists, because the space can tell you so much about their process and inspiration. Foox shares the space with a number of very talented individuals like fashion designer, Ocie Collins III, who had some of the most amazing jackets that I had every seen (I would not mind being seen in one for Fashion Week)! Ocie even works closely with Michael K. Williams who will be paying "Chalky White" in HBO's new series Boardwalk Empire. Platinum record music producers slash DJs Mysto and Pizzi also share the somewhat post apocalyptic space that would be many creative people's dream space.

Artist David Foox, who goes by his last name of Foox, invited me and OJ&B to be the VERY FIRST person to see his newest piece of art for the The International Museum of Surgical Science In Chicago, Illinois. He will be a part of a group art instillation called, Street Anatomy, which opened at the museum on September 3, 2010. Foox contributed a 4 foot tall hand painted sculpture that is a replica of a toy line that he creates to symbolize organ donors.

Foox has been raising awareness for organ donation for the last three years. A family member had received a double lung transplant and now is a healthy person who plays tennis and golf. Foox says that it is a cause that he strongly believes in and also goes with his "weird" nature.

One series that Foox is very proud of is "The Fifth Letter" which is a series of 13 currency sized prints with one released each month. So far Foox has created, "Fortune", "Fame", and "Faith." Faith was just released on September 1st and in October, November, and December "Fate", "Fantasy", and "Freedom" will join "The Fifth Letter" series. The great thing about this series is each piece has a limited amount available to purchase. "Faith" will have only 80 prints and Foox gives people the opportunity to pick what number they would like in the series.

Foox's art has been seen all over the world and is truly making his way as a great modern artist. He also believes in being positive and is one of the friendliest people that I have met in the city which I always enjoy! OJ&B wishes Foox the best of luck and cannot wait to see what happens next for him.
