Celebrity Chef Renee Blackman

Celebrity Chef Renee Blackman is THE REAL DEAL!  I instantly fell in love with her when I first met her a few years ago and we always have the best time together. She also happens to be one of the most talented and best personal chefs on the East Coast with private kitchens all over New York City and The Hamptons welcoming her with open pots and pans!

Born and raised in Barbados, Chef Renee has always had a passion for food and culture which she turned into a successful and exciting career as a personal chef for high profile and celebrity clients. Chef Renee has worked with some of New York City's most prestigious catering companies and her talent also landed her on Food Network's Chopped where she was a finalist.

Check out OJ&B's 5 Questions with Chef Renee Blackman to find out her earliest memories in the kitchen, what celebrity she would want to cook for and her favorite part about working with her private client, Odell Beckham Jr. of the New York Giants. She also gives insight on the perfect Fall dish for a chic meal out East!

I can honestly say that putting together this "5 Questions With" has left my mouth watering and hungry for one of Chef Renee's fabulous meals!

1. What led you to becoming a chef?

Chef Renee Blackman: Hmmm! I really enjoy cooking for the girls. It’s makes for a great conversation for an in home date night, lol. Honestly, I have always had a passion for food and having friends and family be my guinea pigs lead me down this path. I would go home after work and watch Food Networks CHOPPED and say to myself “one day I’m going to be on this show!”

4. You were recently featured in one of Odell Beckham Jr's video series, "I Am More: OBJ," where he spoke about you being his private chef. What is the best part about having a client like Odell?

Chef Renee Blackman: The best part of having Odell as a client is the blank slate, we are getting to know each other from the beginning. He is an open canvas culinary wise, it’s great to introduce him to knew things.

5. What advice do you have for young women who are looking to be an entrepreneur like Chef Renee?

Chef Renee Blackman: For my women out there, to try and to fail! Just Do! Set your intentions, be strong, remain driven! No matter which entrepreneurial avenue you commit to, stay strong, there are many road blocks, keep that goal in mind and remember patience is a virtue and well worth the reward.
