You're So Vain You Probably Think This Post Is About You: Carly Simon Rocks 1Oak!

Last night I had the honor of seeing the legendary Carly Simon perform at 1Oak in New York City as part of the Tribeca Film Festival. The festival helped Simon run a contest where people made a music video to her 1973 hit "You're So Vain." Before this there had never been a music video to the classic song. Throughout the night the videos were played but the most amazing part was when Carly Simon began to sing!

Now I know that I go on and on about Gaga and Britney but PLEASE BELIEVE I know my legends! I was thrilled that I got to see Simon perform in such an intimate setting. Simon started the performance by talking about the project and letting people know that they were going to just have fun and go with the flow. She said that she might even invite people on stage to sing and that she did!

She started the night off by singing with her son Ben Taylor, son of Simon and singer James Taylor. Later she invited her sister Lucy Simon to join her and they sang "Winkin', Blinkin' and Nod." It was pretty epic to say the least.

Simon closed the night with her mega hit "You're So Vain." Before she began the song she invited anyone who wanted to sing with her to go on stage. I jumped on this because I figured when you get the offer to sing on stage with a legend you don't ask questions, you just GO!

Check out the video of this performance and be sure to look to the left hand corner to see me on stage with Carly Simon singing "You're So Vain." So dreamy! Like clouds in my coffee...

Brazilets: When You Wish Amongst The Stars!

So over the past couple of months you may have noticed that in some of my pictures I have a blue ribbon tied around my right wrist. No I have not started or joined a new religion and I did not forget to take off a wrist band from a concert or club. My ribbon is actually a Brazilet!

Brazilets are a 200 year-old tradition from mystical Bahia, Brazil. Worn throughout Latin America, they have spiritual significance for all who wear them. One of my best friends, Mairin, actually introduced me to Brazilets when she included one in my "Welcome to NYC" care package she sent me. It was the perfect gift for someone who moved to a new city to make things happen! Here's why.

To wear your Brazilets simply wrap it around your wrist and tie three knots, making a wish with each knot. When your Brazilets naturally break down and fall off, it is believed that your three wishes will come true! It is a great way to give someone a chance to reflect on why they moved to a new place. Each time I look at my Brazilet I remember my goals and dreams for NYC!

The coolest thing about Brazilets is that portion of the proceeds are dedicated to saving the Brazilian rainforests through a partnership with The Nature Conservancy’s PlantABillion.com. It feels good to know that you are helping to make a difference while wearing something fun at the same time.

If you do decide to rock a Brazilet then you will be in amazing company. Check out some of the celebs that have been seen "wearing their wishes!"

Anne Hathaway wears a Brazilet.

Susan Sarandon takes her Brazilet to the red carpet.

Lauren Conrad is obvi all about her Brazilets!

Sports Illustrated Models just havin' fun and being sexy on the beach with their Brazilets.

Lil' Gaga: Check out Gaga's Little Sister Natali Germanotta!

I totally thought that this was Lady Gaga in a wig and amazing sunglasses all 654764327543743 times that I have watched Gaga's Telephone video. Turns out that it is actually Natali Germanotta A.K.A Lady Gaga's 17 year old sister!

She is super supportive of her big sis and will no doubt start to be on the scene soon if she so chooses. Apparently Natty Gaga was seen at a couple of fashion week shows this past Feb and was at the Grammy's with Gaga. (So I hear)

Whatever Nat decides to do OJ&B wishes her the best! Let me know if you have any projects in NYC NG!

Megan Mullally Working on Karen: The Musical!

2010 Winter TCA Tour - Day 8

Playbill.com's blog, Playblog, reports that Megan Mullally recently spoke on her plans to do Karen: The Musical! It would be based on her amazingly funny and always wasted character, Karen Walker, from the hit NBC television show Will & Grace.

Karen: The Musical will be a throw down between Mullally's character and her Will & Grace nemesis Beverly Leslie played by the always funny Leslie Jordan.

11th Annual Trevor Project's Cracked XMas Benefit

Above: Leslie Jordan

I am really excited about this project! Let's be honest, we ALL want more Karen Walker in our lives! It seems right that it will be a musical too! I for sure want to see this if and when it hits NYC. Mullally says that they are currently looking for the right person to write the book but that they have a producer, composer and a director for the project.

Who knows? Maybe other Will & Grace stars will pop up on the stage during the tour. I just really really need slash want Rosario to happen again as well!

David Meister Personally Shows OJ&B His Fall 2010 Line!

David Meister is an esteemed American designer known for his sophisticated, yet body conscious, women’s wear. David’s dresses, evening wear and couture red carpet designs have been worn by Alicia Keys, Fergie, Tina Fey, Jennifer Hudson, Mariah Carey and Demi Lavato to name a few.

When I got the email asking if I wanted to check out David Meister's Fall 2010 collection in his showroom I said "Duh!" (I loves a good show room filled with pretty things!) I had no idea that David Meister's Fall 2010 collection would be shown to me by David Meister himself! It was so great to be able to speak with the actual designer one on one about his creations!

"To me it’s about making a great dress that you think will work on a lot of different people," David told me, "a lot of these dresses you don’t have to have a perfect body to wear."

Above: Beautiful dresses for Fall 2010 hang in The David Meister showroom.

I loved meeting a designer that understood that not everyone is walking around emaciated. I am so over seeing guys and gals who look like they could use a ham and cheese sandwich with extra mayo and a non diet soda on the side!

David and I also spoke about major fall/winter trends for 2010. "Sequins are huge this fall, done in so many different ways," says Meister. “Sequins aren’t going anywhere they’re huge!"

One of my favorite things in the showroom were the vibrantly colored cocktail slash dance dresses. When you have color that is beyond, you really don't need a lot of extra stuff to make a statement!

Above: Gorg! This is what you wear when you want to be classy yet sexy and still stand out. Below: This dress is perfect for a fun gala or fun birthday situation.

OKAY! Time for some celebrity DISH! Ever see a celeb on the red carpet with a way to short, "oh no she didn't" dress? I always thought that the dresses were made that short but this is NOT the case.

David and his team were talking about how some celebs take short dresses like the ones you see above and basically fold them in half. "Short is not always better," Meister laughs. "Some celebs think that it has to be crotch level to be good. It’s not good." Then Meister's team said sometimes they will see a dress and say “Oh My God! We don’t recognize it because it’s half the size it once was." Meister does admit that it is okay for some celebs when done correctly. “Some dresses it works. Sometimes I get it. Like when Fergie does it looks good. It works!" I love that we both a mutual love for Fergie.

Above: These dresses caught my eye the entire time! I just hope I didn't give any gals ideas on how to skimplify their wardrobe.

I had an amazing time talking gowns and celebs with David Meister and his team! It was a pleasure meeting him and I am looking forward to going back to see more!

P.S. David Meister's bridal line is launching in June for those ladies who are about to tie the knot and are looking for a new name in bridal.

Posh & Pregnant: DKNY And Amy Tara Koch Show Women How To "Bump It Up!"

It seems like everyone is having babies these days. From celebs to people you went to college and high school with, baby mania seems to be sweeping the nation. Some women fear that getting pregnant means that thy have to lose their style in order to remain comfortable with their new body. Author/NBC trend reporter/Vogue Style Expert Amy Tara Koch and DKNY are here to tell women the exact opposite.

On April 15th, DKNY celebrated the launch of "Bump It Up" at their store on Madison Avenue. The new style bible for mommy's-to-be teaches expecting mom's how to transform their pregnancy into the ultimate style statement.

Author Amy Tara Koch was joined by her supportive author friends Jill Kargman, Bob Morris, Tara Mandy, Samantha Ettus, Lyss Stern and Marisa Marchetto. Also in attendance was the new Real Housewife of New York, Jennifer Gilbert, who wore a fabulous sequin DKNY top.

Above: (Left to Right) Author Amy Tara Koch and new Real Housewife of New York City Jennifer Gilbert.

Tara Koch also had her A-list group of friends contributing to the book. Jill Kargman, Devi Kroell, Alison Brod, Aliza Licht, and Filipa Fino are a few of the hot moms that shared their tips on surviving the incredible bulk of pregnancy without losing their style or edge.

During the event, DKNY raffled off a $500 gift certificate, a DKNY "Cozy," Donna Karan's Body Perfect shape wear and of course, a copy of "Bump It."

Those DKNY Cozies are popping up all over the place! Talk about an investment piece. It can go from the club to the crib.

Moms-to-be have enough to stress about without having to worry about how to look great. Hopefully this book will make the process of being pregnant a little less stressful.

Spotted: Michelle Trachtenberg At The Jane Hotel!

The American Museum of Natural History's 2010 Museum Dance

Last night I went out with my friend Carrie! I love going out with people who are fun no matter where you go or who is around. We started the night at the Erin Brinie SoHo store to see Marco Walker's photography. The photography and event were great!

We hit up several places after that before finally landing at one of my fave places in the city, The Jane Hotel! I fell in love with this place back in September 2009 when the ballroom was all kinds of happening. After a bev or two and meeting new friends, we spotted Michelle Trachtenberg as she walked in and sat in the booth next to us.

MT was looking gorg as ever and was with two pals chatting it up and being casual. After making several Harriet The Spy slash Georgina Gossip Girl references, Carrie and I left to dance the night away.

I REALLY wanted to say "hey," but I just don't want to bother anyone. The next time I see a celeb I am going to try to say hi just for my OJ&B readers! I mean if Michelle can rap in the Holland Tunnel with Dawson Leery then I am sure she is cool with people saying hi!

Check out the video below to see MT bust a rap as posted in a twitvid by James Van Der Beek! AMAZING!

Video: Pony Perfection! Live Action My Little Pony Musical Does Dreamgirls and Wicked!

Everyone loves how Glee puts their own spin on classic pop and Broadway songs! I am a HUGE Gleek, but I think that I have found something that might be just a tad bit more amazing than one of the best shows on T.V.!

When I first moved to NYC I lived in Brooklyn. My former roommates always found the craziest videos. I never really watched them but I am so glad that I saw this!

Apparently there is a My Little Pony live musical complete with huge pony costumes that have moving eyes and mouths. The actors in the play decided that it was be awesome to have the ponies do EPIC EPIC Broadway show tunes like 'And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going' and 'Defying Gravity.'

I consider this video to be one of the greatest YouTube videos of all time! If you are a theatre nerd then you will too! When I saw this for the first time I was holding my head and literally loosing it! The emotion! The pain! The ponies!

Do you think you can handle this? PLEASE PLEASE comment and let me know what you think!

Um, an Effie White Pony?! YES, PLEASE AND THANK YOU!

OJ&B Celeb Sighting Ends Up In US Weekly!

Last Sunday I did a post about spotting Scarlett Johansson, Leiv Schreiber, and Wilmer Valderrama playing pool at the NYC hot spot, Rose Bar. (Check it out here)

A friend of mine suggested that I send it to US Weekly and so of course I did. I opened up this weeks issue entitled. "Inside Kate's Train Wreck," and there was my hot tip on page 42 under "VIP Scene."

Above: Page 42 of US Weekly.

I was so excited to see my tip in the big leagues! Above all, it was just celebs playing pool and not anything of scandal! I love my celebs and I like commenting on them when they are a hot mess but I am really not out to start any dramz in their lives. Check out the "VIP Scene!"

Above: GET IT OJ&B! Second mentioned sighting in US Weekly's "VIP Scene!"

VIDEO: New Sex and The City 2 Trailer!

FINALLY! A trailer for SATC2 that actually tells you a bit about the plot. I was so tired of seeing the one that told you nothing and had SJP in that same damn white outfit with the gold aviators. I just wanted more!

In the new trailer we see that things aren't all sunshine and cosmo flavored lollipops for the ladies. Char is starting to see that motherhood is a hard job, Samantha is dealing with getting older, Carrie still can't seem to get her life together and figure out what she wants (yes, she bumps into Aiden in Abu Dhabi), and Miranda... well she seems happy. Is it me, or is she always the opposite of what the other ladies are? When everyone was happy she was mad, now everyone is trying to get it together and she is all party in the U.S.A! OH MIR!

But all of those things are why I love SATC. I am really excited for new wit and new Samantha jokes! How good was it when Char asks Samantha, "How are you going to swallow all of those (pills)?" and Samantha replies. "Have we met?"

The best is at the end when the girls are discussing their trip to Abu Dhabi and Char's daughter says, "And Jasmine and Aladdin?" To which Carrie answers, "Yes, sweetie, but with cocktails." Gotta love those LUSHious ladies!

Love The Love From The Hayden-Harnett Blog!

Last month I posted that I got to style the band The Vivian Girls for the cover and spread of the March issue of Encore Magazine. It was such a fun shoot!

I styled the rocker girls with clothes from Brooklyn Industries, American Apparel and Hayden-Harnett. I loved pulling from Hayden-Harnett because they had some truly great pieces like an all grey jumpsuit and beautiful colors.

The best thing that can happen when you pull and style for a shoot is when the people you are styling and the people that you pulled from both LOVE what you did. I am so happy that the Vivian Girls liked the clothes and I am excited that I found out, via Hayden-Harnett's Blog, that they liked what I did too! Here is what was said:

Love that you loved it HH! Thanks for having amazing clothes to shoot with!

1 Record, 2 Cities, An Amazing Day In The Harbor!

Today was the official day that the Estrella Damm and the W Hotel set sail in the race to set the Transoceanic Sailing Record from New York City to Barcelona, Spain! This is a pioneering initiative, as it is the first time in sailing history that a record will be set between an Atlantic and a Mediterranean city. The beginning of the race marks the end of events and celebrations here in the United States.

One of the events that I was lucky enough to attend was the Regatta on Saturday, April 3rd, in the New York City Harbor. The Estrella Damm, designed by Custo Dalmau, and the W Hotel held two practice races with their sail boats on a gorgeous spring day in the city. I got to watch the entire race from a beautiful yacht that was stocked with Estrella Damm. It felt beyond luxurious!

Above: Jonathan Valdez taking in the sun and the Regatta! I'm on a boat!

The races were very exciting and fun to watch up close. As members of the press, we had the option of viewing the Regatta on the yacht, or getting on tiny motor boats to take in the action and get amazing shots. I decided that what I wore was not conducive to pretending I worked at the Discovery Channel slash I did not want to fall into the harbor that day. Sorry OJ&Bers, but a yacht is obviously more my speed.

The yacht followed the sailboats as the crews worked very hard to maintain the sails and speeds of the boats. I was so amazed at how quickly they could turn the boats to avoid hitting us and the other boats in the water. The teams made it look effortless, but when you looked closely at what they were doing, it was nothing less than hard work. The first race was won by the W Hotel and the second race was won by Estrella Damm by just 10 seconds!

Above: The Estrella Damm sail boat designed by Custo Dalmau.

The races provide a healthily competition to set a record. They also provide the opportunity to strengthen the connection between New York and Barcelona with a socio-cultural, educational and sporting program. There will be a constant video/image feed on the website for the initiative allowing the media and fans to follow the record on a daily basis. As part of the educational program, the Harbor School in Brooklyn, along with other schools in Barcelona, will get a chance to have a video conference to interact with the skippers during the record. The students will be able to ask questions and learn more about the sailing world.

Above: The W Hotel sail boat.

Orange Juice and Biscuits wishes both teams the best of luck as well as a safe journey! I hope that the weather is nothing less than amazing throughout the race.

Check out this video from the Regatta in the Harbor. It allows you to see just how hard these guys work to have these boats stay on the right path. You also get to see interviews and hear about the challenges the teams faced while racing in such a small area. There are also some amazing areal shots!

Gold A Go-Go: The World Gold Council Shows OJ&B The Goods!

Gold is so hot right now! People want gold in their clothes, shoes, purses and even in their food! Yes I said food! I read on the interweb that some company created an edible gold spray that can turn all food into gold. Gold burgers anyone?

Recently OJ&B attended the World Gold Council's 2010 New Gold Jewelry Press Preview. This is where magazine editors/press/hot, trendsetting blogs get to see the new gold designs before they head off to the spring trade shows. It was such a gorgeous day for gold! The room was literally filled with tons of the most beautiful new gold jewelry for 2010 just ready to be worn. After reviewing my pictures about a million times I think I finally narrowed it down to my favorites.

I LOVED these gold animal rings by Manya & Roumen LLC!

Above: Talk bout a statement ring! Loving this golden iguana. Below: Mickey has never looked so glam!

Can we talk for a moment about how gorg these Paula Crevoshay bracelets are? One of these with a little black dress and BAM! You are instantly the best dressed at the cocktail party!

Above: The other gal who usually is best dressed at these sorta things is going to literally HATE YOU when you walk in with one of these!

Looking for a fresh way to do spring without the floral prints? Try floral jewlery! These beautifully crafted bangles by Maya Jewels are just the thing to give give you elegance in the spring without looking like a bouquet.

Above and Below: Amazing gold floral bangles by Maya Jewels.

The tray with pieces by Mahlia Collection really caught my eye. The piece that really stood out was the necklace that had the skull beautifully framed by gold.

Above: If you wear this piece out and do not want to get hit on, just tell the guy you made with someone who annoyed you! EEK!

Out of all of the pieces in the room I think that my absolute favorite has to be the pieces by Noelle Leone. I found myself constantly going back to Noelle's tray. I loved the use of the lion doorknocker in the matching collection.

Above: My favorite tray in the room! Below: Check out this ring! I actually would love to rock a gold lion ring!

I had such a wonderful time looking at all of the phenomenal gold! Special thanks to the World Gold Council for showing me around the room and being so friendly!

DKNY Hits A Grand Slam With Yankee Sponsorship!

If you are looking for things that symbolize New York, then look no further than the New York Yankees and Donna Karan.

Donna Karan's fashion line DKNY announced today that it will be the very first fashion brand to have a permanent presence in Yankee Stadium. The multi-faceted, long-term sponsorship agreement with the 2009 World Series Championship team and the American fashion house will include a permanent outfield bullpen sign and a DKNY lounge.

Above: DKNY's permanent outfield bullpen sign, located in right centerfield.

The DKNY lounge, located along the third baseline, will allow Champions and Legends Suite ticket holders to dine "DKNY Style" and watch the game on high-definition televisions, featuring DKNY-branded footage on rotation. Sounds like the perfect place to watch the ball game!

It is so awesome that DKNY is strengthening the ties between fashion and sports. When I was told that DKNY had a sponsorship with the Yankees I thought that maybe they were designing new uniforms. Maybe we will see some baseball inspired menswear in Spring 2011?

DKNY is constantly finding fresh new ways to market and sell the brand. One minute they are working will Kelly Cutrone on new media videos and the next minute they are permanently in Yankee Stadium. GET IT DKNY!

P.S. Amazing idea for a fashion show! Having the runway look like a baseball diamond and having fierce teams that rotate being on the field and running (catwalking) the bases! I don't know if the world is ready for triple platform baseball cleats though. If you need more ideas DKNY just let me know!

Video: Blanc de Chine Finale With OJ&B Front Row!

So one of the fun things about going to events is finding press/videos/blog posts that slowly get posted from the evening.

Check out this video that I found on YouTube of the Blanc de Chine Fall 2010 fashion show finale. You can totally see me and my friend Natasha Huang sitting in the front row and giving a round of applause. (Is that applause for me or my bow tie?)

Loves a good runway finale!

If you spot anymore videos or pictures with OJ&B in them then send them my way!

A View From The Rose Bar: ScarJo, Liev Schreiber and Wilmer Valderrama Spotted!

This Saturday, April 3rd I had an amazing night out! My friend and I started out meeting a group of people at Janis in the West Village. From there we went to the Meatpacking District and finally ended up at New York City hot spot, Rose Bar, in the Gramercy Park Hotel.

While my friend's roommate and I were talking amongst ourselves, she spotted Wilmer Valderrama playing billiards with some friends. It is difficult to see people's faces clearly at Rose Bar due to the very soft candle lighting but as our eyes adjusted we noticed that his friends were none other than Scarlett Johansson (ScarJo) and Liev Schreiber.

Book Signing Cocktail Party for the release of Emilio Estefan's book The Rhythm of Success

ScarJo and Liev are both in NYC starring in the Arthur Miller play, A View From the Bridge. Wilmer tweeted earlier that night that he was going to see and support ScarJo in the play.

WillyVille: On my way to see my sister Scarlett's Broadway play.. "View From The Bridge"..

'

Above: Liev Schriber and Scarlett Johansson

The group of friends seemed to be having a great time just hanging out and shooting some pool. Wilmer made the winning shot and everyone clapped and congratulated him.

It took everything I had not to say hi to ScarJo as she was standing right in front of where I was sitting. I TOTALLY respect celebrities down time and therefore did not take any pictures or try to talk to them.

When ScarJo left she totes did a classic celebrity exit. She quickly put on her fedora and scarf looked around to see if the coast was clear and shot off into the night. I think from now on I am going to start making my exits just like ScarJo!

It is nice to know that celebs do normal things like hang out with friends and shoot pool. They just do them in really really nice hotel bar slash lounges that are crazy hard to get into.
