Old School Presentation In 2009! LOVE IT


I have been twitter friends with Fine and Dandy Shop for a while and have been eyeing their site for a long time! I really like this online shop because I always feel like I am browsing through a vintage haberdashery each time I go to the site. The site says that they sell accessories for dapper guys, which means bow ties, ties, suspenders, pocket squares, cuff links, money clips, and so much more! Since my friend Chelsia always says I am dapper and I love vintage things, I felt that this site is perfect for me! I finally placed an order and did not have to wait long for my package to arrive! When I opened the mailer I was surprised to find what you see in the picture! They had put my order in a little brown box, with a handwritten thank you note, held together by a ribbon and a pin with an old school gentleman on it. I had to give them props for presentation and felt that others should know about this really cool online shop. Thanks Fine and Dandy shop for catering to those who like a little class in their online orders!

Sesame Street Even Makes The Celebs Smile!

Last night the Daytime Emmy awards gave Sesame Street a lifetime achievement award for 40 years on the air! Crazy right? The thing that struck me the most when I watched the tribute was how ALL of the stars had HUGE cheesy grins on their faces. Everyone one had that twinkle in their eye that only comes from remembering your child hood. I thought it was cool that people were geeking out because their inner child was jumping up and down while their adult side was trying with all their might to not run up on stage and hug Cookie Monster. I can't say that the video montage "reminded" me of the songs because lets face it, they randomly pop into my head ALL THE TIME. Like the 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, ELEVEN, TWELVE! That song was my jam! Here is the clip of the tribute last night. Check out how happy everyone was! Sesame Street is the truth!

Totally GLEEKING OUT!


Back in May of this year the FOX network aired a special preview episode of a little gem called Glee! Before that airing my friend Louise told me "OMG, have you seen the trailer to Glee, your are going to die!" After that we watched it IMMEDIATELY and OH MY GAWD! I loved every single moment of it! Since then I have been DYING for more Glee along with thousands of fellow Gleeks across the land! I love Glee because well, I am a theatre nerd (complete with a minor) and I LOVE that they have real Broadway actors like Matthew Morrison (Hairspray) and the lovely Lea Michele (Spring Awakening). That really made me happy but it is also HILARIOUS! One of my favorite characters is Mercedes Jones played by Amber Riley. She is a super sassy wannabe diva who says things like "I'm the Beyonce, I aint no Kelly Rowland." She is a huge reason why I am hooked to the show. This past Saturday I caught up with Ms. Riley on twitter! Here is what went down!

Another exciting thing happening in Glee land is that Fox and Columbia Records announced today that On Tuesday, Nov. 3, Columbia Records and Twentieth Century Fox Television will release “Glee: The Music, Volume 1. It will include songs from the show like “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Gold Digger,” “Take a Bow,” “Maybe This Time,” “No Air,” “Bust a Move,” “Dancing with Myself,” and “Defying Gravity!” It is going to be spectacular! I cannot wait till the first season officially starts on Wednesday, September 9th! When I see them sing "Push It" by Salt-N-Pepa I might flip! So if you have not seen the trailer to Glee never fear! Here it is! And to save you the trouble of searching after you watch the clip, I posted the full performance of the song the other school sings. You will see what I am talking about trust me! Monokini Mania!


So I was flipping through the weeklies yesterday and I came across my favorite word of Summer 2009... MONOKINI! Now you know how I love saying the word KINI! Slapping mono in front of it just makes it that much for fun to say! I wanted to know what YOU thought of the monokini mania. Seems like all the celebs are wearing them. For some reason they seem a bit more scandalous than a regular kini. Maybe because some of them have slits and holes that make them look trashy. Why did they not call it a Unikini? Hott Messini? They should open up a restaurant called Monokini's! (Hi! Welcome to Monokini's!) Would you or have you worn one? Think of the mono tan line! Let me know what you think!

You have to give it to Heidi...


The girl has no shame and I kinda of love it! Everyone (including me) might be saying that her performance at the Miss Universe Pageant was a train/plane/car/ship wreck, but that does not phase her at all! She even is even using the above photo as her twitter display picture! I love that she does not listen to a word any one says and does stuff that the public thinks she shouldn't. I know I do the same thing! She did her thing, she was excited about it, people hated, she proudly posted the performance pic on twitter as a badge of honor. If I would have performed on stage at Miss Universe I KNOW I would do the same thing! I know I talked mad noise on her after her performance but I still admire her spirit. She just reminds me to not let haters get me down!

So when I started this blog I promised that it would not look like a hot mess for long. I FINALLY had time to give my blog some blogtox and a big fat face lift! I am loving the way it looks now! I feel confident that I have taken it from ooo girl to OOO GIRL!! I Hope that you have been enjoying the post and are sharing them with the ones you love!(or hate, whatever just share y'all!) Don't just go back to school... ARRIVE!


That is my advice for ALL of my friends going back to school today at good ol' Texas State University. Ok, really it is my advice for ANYONE going back to school!! This is my first fall in practically my entire life that I will not be going to school!! Graduating from college does that to you. I have to say that I am not really sad about it, but I will miss certain things about the college life. It is the simple things really. Like going to your classes on the first day and walking in the room awkwardly, scoping out the sitting sitch and trying to avoid the T zone. No I am not talking about Tyra's camp for girls, I am talking about the area that is made up of the front and middle rows of desks in class. That is where all the kids who are super smart (brown nosers) sit. I will also miss dressing up for the first day of school! Now, I know in college it is ok (for some reason) to look at hot soulful mess, BUT on the first day I liked making a good first impression and looking like the bomb dot com. I always say when you look good your feel good! Oh how I will long for making fun of hoocies who can't let their booty shorts go well into winter. Remember the cardinal rule: If it's under 30 DON'T dress dirty! All the sorority and fraternity girls and dude bros wearing the rush shirts that casually, yet clearly say, "I think I am better than you," hidden in a trashy slash quirky saying. What will I do with out Study Breaks magazine featuring the latest way to make money in a kini'? Tailgates will be missed as well as laughing at the walk of shamers in the morning. No more free shirts and food every time you walk through the quad. I loved how packed the quad was on the first day with people "quadulating." Girls who woke up super early to fix their hair and makeup just to put on jammies trying to make it look like they did not try, always made me laugh. As you can see I will miss super important things that are truly valuable to one's education. Here is to a good first day! Let me know how it goes!

I Love A Good Nomination!!!



Friday I found out that Orange Juice and Biscuits, "Morning Talk Worth Waking For" is nominated for TWO 2009 Collegiate Broadcasters Inc. Awards! The first is for Best DJ and the second nom is for Best Regularly Scheduled Program!! I am thrilled that the show got nominated and that our hard is being recognized. This is OJ&B's second CBI nom for Best Regularly Scheduled Program and its first for Best DJ. The noms are a huge deal because it is a national award! OJ&B also had the honor of being voted top 8 morning show on Austin360.com! Oh how I miss OJ&B! I am really glad that the blog is going well but I hope to one day be back on air!! We shall see who takes home the prize in October when the winners are announced in Austin, Texas! BADy Language...


You see that picture? A NUDE colored costume?!?! So daring! So scandalous... BACK IN 2000 WHEN BRITNEY DID IT AT THE VMA'S FOR HER PERFORMANCE OF "OOOPS I DID IT AGAIN!" That's right Heidi Montag it has been done! Not only has it been done but it has been done by the best! For those who may not know, Heidi Montag performed her latest song "Body Language" on last night telecast of the Miss Universe Pageant (Miss Dominican Republic got robbed!) Heidi's performance was such a rip off. Not only did she come out in a nude costume that looked like a really bad slash cheap Halloween costume of Brit Brit's, but she also came out in a black jacket that was later ripped off. All she was missing was the pants and fedora. H. Montag I know you have no shame but at least have no shame with new ideas! So the costume idea and color are really the only things that you can compare with Heidi and Britney's performances. Also, Heidi tweeted that she was dancing so much during rehearsals that she knew how Britney felt. NO BOO, YA DON'T! Montag and Cyrus need to stop using Britney's name to try to get people to like them. Check out Heidi's act and then check out a REAL performance! NO SIR! HOT HEATED MESS!



Last night The September Issue had a premiere at The Museum of Modern Art in NY. So when I think movie premiere, museum, Vogue, NY, the first thing that comes to mind when I pick out my outfit is cut off shorts right? SO WRONG! Listen, if you are going to try the whole shorts with a suit situation at least have a cuffed or hemmed short. Are really going to roll around a movie premiere with threads hanging out just willey nilley? Oh, you ARE? I guess. If you like it I love it....

Houston, We Have an Interview!



Whitney H-town is going to be the first guest of the new season for Oprah on September 14th. LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOOOOVE ITTTTT! (That was my impression of Oprah when she gets excited.) Now don't get it twisted, I LOVE Oprah and I am really glad that Whitney is making a come back. It is about time Whit! But as history has shown us, you never ever know what Whitney will bring to the table. Also, being on Oprah can sometimes make people do crazy things (Tom Cruise)! In closing, remember on Being Bobby Brown when Bobby and Whitney got crunk in that gift shop over some sun glasses? That ish was HILARIOUS! Secretly that is all I think of now every time WH is brought up. Now I know this youtube clip was filmed off of a T.V. but I feel that this is the one and ONLY time that it is acceptable! Just watch and laugh! P.S. Please let Oprah and Whitney go sunglasses shopping!

I just can't get enough of The September Issue!

If you have not heard by now, "The September Issue" is a documentary that follows the legendary editor-in-chief of Vogue, Anna Wintour, as she creates the infamous September Issue along with her team. Yesterday The September Issue held a interview on twitter, or a "twitterview," with the director R.J. Cutler. Fans and followers were asked to submit questions prior to the twitterview and you know I did! I was thrilled when 4 o'clock rolled around and they OPENED the twitterview with my two questions!! Here is what was said!

The Britney Beat: Britney does Letterman's Top Ten!

One of my fave things in life is OJ&B's Britney Beat! I am so glad to be bringing this back Y'all! All I can say is DON'T HATE because like my friend Mandy D. says, "Britney is the Truth!" What this means is that even though people try to hate on her, as soon and Brit Brit comes on in the club, the truth comes out and everyone starts dancing and getting crunk. We have seen it happen so many times. You know you can't help it! So the legendary Miss Spears had the honors of doing David Letterman's top ten list last night! The topic was "Top Ten Ways The Country Would Be Different If Britney Spears Were President." My fave was #9: "We would only invade fun places like Cabo." GET IT! So sit back, don't hate, and enjoy y'all!

Imma Need You To Put Some Clothes On!


'Kinis and surfers and stares! OH MY! I recently read an article in the NY TIMES about how Abercrombie and Fitch owned clothing store, Hollister, opened up a new location in NYC. So apparently when you walk into this store you are greeted by some of what you see in the picture. Not only that, but they also scattered these dude bros and dudettes throughout the store to be flirty with you. OH YOU KNOW I HAD TO PUT MY TWO CENTS IN! LOL.

Listen, don't teens have enough problems with body images these days without going shopping and having to deal with half naked models acting like they give a crap that you need a different size? Let's say that one day I was back in high school and I was tying to search for clothes. If I turned around and had some model in a swim suit ask me if I needed help, I would kindly hand them a smedium vintage slim fit distressed T and say, "No thanks, put this on and go eat a ham and cheese sandwich with extra mayo cause you look hungry, now get out my face! KAY?" "P.S. Your cheeks are hanging out!" I am not trying to sound bitter but really?

I want to create a store where paparazzi are standing outside. Then when you enter they start taking your picture as you walk down the cleaned every 30 mins red carpet. OOO! And instead of mirrors, you get to see what you look like in a picture that says "hottest dressed celeb" at the top. I think my store wins!! Let me know if you agree or disagree! -JV

A Yes From Jess Means You're Going to Hollywood?

Rumor (not Willis) has it that Jessica Simpson is being pitched to the American Idol producers to be the next Paula Abdul. I think I could be O.K. with this. I am a big J Simp fan and I really do want to see her do well and be happy. I think she has too many haters! Like the whole mom jeans thing. She was just trying to do the high wasted jeans look. Listen, if I put all of your fashion fails on the cover of a magazine you would not like it! Don't make me go through your facebook! :) Well all this Jessica talk has made me want to watch one of her videos. P.S. can I please get down in a moving vehicle like that? Where we going? To practice our choreography under a bridge and then we are taking our sweet moves to the theme park duh! Perfect day much? Also, I just noticed how she totally sported the LC braid way back in '99. GET IT JESSICA!

Pictures Last FOREVER! Don't act like that!


So an old friend of mine recently scanned a bunch of pictures from our high school days and put them on Facebook. Yes I said scan! It is crazy how less than ten years ago we did not have camera phones and digi cams. At least they were not used heavily because A) they were expensive and B) they were gigante! So back to my story! My friend posted old pics, nothing bad.. well except the clothes. (lets just say I will never sport the trendy big Urkel glasses of today because I had that ish waaay before it was the hottness for many years and I do not want Sally Jesse Raphael glasses ever again!) The name of the photo album was "Pictures Last Forever." I think that statement is especially true now with all of the ways we can save pictures! So why do people continue to act a mess? And picture texting a.k.a sexting? LAWD! If you give a hoocie a cell phone with photo capabilites the rest is history. O.K. I am sorry hoocies! "Regular" people do it too, then act surprised when everybody in the world sees their "twitpic." This is just me observing life. Also, after thinking it over, I have decided that holding drinks up in pictures is not cute. Here is a rule to follow. Ready? Camera UP! Drinks DOWN! No one needs to see your cranilla vodka lemon bomb or whatever you were drinking/spilling that night. I guess this would be my don't act like that! Just remember friends PICTURES LAST FOREVER!

WHY IS THIS SONG SO GOOD?!?


So earlier today my good friend Mairin sent a tweet to me that would change my life musically! She introduced me to the fierce girl in the picture... her name is V.V. Brown!

JIC (just in case) you did not know, I LOVES ME SOME RETRO and I loves me some music that is retro inspired like V.V.'s song "Crying Blood!" You have to check out this video! It is crazy! I love the clothes and am obsessed with the dancing that happens in the video.

Back In The Day Song Of The Day!

So for the first Back in the day song of the day I thought it would be good to do a song about summer before it ends! SO naturally I picked "Summer Girls" by the Lyte Funky Ones aka LFO. Now this song came out back in the summer of '99 and it is corny AND catchy. I am still up in the air on wheather A+F wrote the song for them as a giant commercial but whateves! SO ENJOY! And check out the hair and plain clothes. OH SUMMER O' 99!

Livin' La Vida Lohan!!




A couple of days ago I read an article online that Lohan was going to be in the Robert Rodriguez movie Machete. THE VERY FIRST THING that I thought was, "OMG ROBBY ROD EQUALS ATX!" And BAM I was right! Viva La Lohan! Cady.. I mean Lindsay Lohan is going to be in the lone star state (drinking lone star no doubt) and filming Rodriguez's Machete in Austin, TX!! OK so this is how it is going to happen: (Insert dream sequence waves here). I arrive at a posh ATX bar and standing/sitting/leaning/falling at the bar is LL! Me: "Hey LI LI, Loved you in Mean Girls!" LL: "@*#&*@(#&#!" Me: "Jealous?" LL: "You're my new BFF!" Then I will have a reality show and or write a book about what happened that night! In closing, I am just really excited that I have a small chance that I run into Lohan! BUT, I am sad that she isn't in ATX filming Mean Girls 2! - JV

OJ&B IS BACK... IN BLOG FORM!!

Oh Wow! How do I even begin? I guess a nice hello to everyone who has supported me with Orange Juice and Biscuits would be nice! So much has happened to me since I graduated in May but I am sure that you have heard! I won't get into all that because that is NOT what this blog is about! This blog is about what OJ&B has ALWAYS been about! Having fun,getting crunk, celeb and world news, back in the day songs of the day, Britney Beat, don't act like that, and above all... TWERKING IT! That's right bitches! I AM BACK! I have missed my morning show so much ever since I graduated and I have felt like I have been drowning because I have not been able to voice my opinion! And SO SO much has happened this summer. OJ&B meant so much to me and I had so much fun doing it. I also really missed hearing from all of you! Because I graduated I can no longer do the show on KTSW but we had a great run and we ended on a high note! But never fear! Because THIS will be my outlet to give you everything that you (and most importantly) I have been craving since MAY! Of course you will have to be patient with me as I get my life together and transform this blog from looking a HOT SOULFUL MESS to The HOTTNESS! I want to take it from ooo girl... to OOOOO GURL!!!!! With that being said, I want to hear from you guys! Like I said I miss you so much and would love your help on what is going on in the world!
